Bageshwar:-On April 29, 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made it famous at the national level by referring to the biscuits of Maduve made in Munar in the Mann Ki Baat program. Sadly, the establishment closed down a year later. Till date, the government administration has not even taken care of it. Former district panchayat president Harish Aithani has given a memorandum to the CDO and demanded that it be operated again.
On Tuesday, a memorandum was given to CDO RC Tiwari and said that Prime Minister Modi had talked about getting employment to 900 people and an income of Rs 15 lakh from the biscuits of Maduve being made in Munar village of Kapkot. PM Modi had described it as effective to prevent migration but this establishment was closed in the year 2019 itself. He said that the previous government had opened a Maduve biscuit factory in Munar.
After Maduve’s biscuits became popular, many farmers started getting employment from it and Maduwa, which was sold for 20 to 25 rupees per kg, went up to Rs 50 per kg. Maduve’s biscuits were also being supplied to 50 Anganwadi centres. Suddenly the factory closed and many people lost their jobs. Despite this, the government did not take care of it. He demanded that the establishment be reopened soon.
The government has no role in the biscuit plant in Madwe. It was run by the committee. This could not proceed due to a dispute among the members of the committee. Continuous notices are being given to the committee chairman. Now a new committee will have to be formed to run the factory anew. – RC Tiwari, CDO Bageshwar
In case of factory closure, the Chief Development Officer will be investigated. After seeing the investigation report, all possible efforts will be made to open it. – Ashish Bhatganai, DM Bageshwar
