Dehradun: Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal has ordered an inquiry into the construction going on in the Khalanga area. Both the forest department and the district administration will investigate the matter. The construction was going on in the Khalanga area located in the Raipur range. It was alleged that 22 trees have been damaged due to this construction work.
On receiving the information, members of the Khalanga Vikas Samiti and other environment lovers went there and protested. He described it as an attempt to harm the environment with illegal construction. People had demanded an investigation and action. A case was registered against Ashok Agarwal, a resident of Rishikesh. After the matter came to the notice, Forest Minister Uniyal has ordered the Principal Conservator of Forests and District Magistrate of Dehradun to investigate. The forest minister says that both the departments have been asked to investigate who this land falls under. Further action will be taken on the basis of the investigation
