Dehradun: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided five pharma companies in Rishikesh, Haridwar and Kashipur in the state. The case is being told of the nexus of these companies with drug smugglers. These companies include CB Healthcare, Cmilex Pharmachem Drugs Industries, Biogenic Drugs Private Limited, Soul Health Care Pvt Ltd and Aster Pharma. The stock of various medicines and other materials is being examined here. According to ED sources, the agency has also taken action at 15 locations in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra besides Uttarakhand. It was reported that last year, the Uttarakhand STF had registered a case in drug trafficking. In this, the nexus of smugglers and these companies was revealed. In addition, the procurement of raw materials for drug manufacturing was also tested. In this alliance of smugglers and companies, a case of money laundering of crores of rupees is also being made. In such a situation, the ED has now started action with raids in it. Some people’s properties may also be attached to it. According to ED sources, drug peddler Alex Paliwal has been arrested in the past for accessing a consignment of banned category drugs to drug smugglers.
Through Alex, it was discovered that the pharma companies under investigation had produced unusual drugs of the banned category. One drug was found to have produced more than 200 million tablets in just a few months.
