On Friday, Ganesh Joshi, the Minister for Soldiers’ Welfare, made a surprise visit to the UPNL headquarters, arriving on an electric two-wheeler. This unexpected inspection by the Minister caused a stir among the office officials and staff. During the inspection, he toured various sections to conduct a thorough review of employee attendance, operational procedures, and office management.
With the aim of promoting fuel conservation and environmental protection, the Cabinet Minister issued a significant directive to the officials. In light of global circumstances, he instructed that 50 percent of the operations at the UPNL headquarters be conducted under a “Work from Home” system. Furthermore, while directing the implementation of a “No Vehicle Day” campaign once a week, he advised that the maximum amount of work be carried out through online channels every Saturday.
Minister Ganesh Joshi stated that a digital work culture would not only result in fuel savings but also contribute to strengthening the environment. He commended the use of electric vehicles for postal operations at the UPNL headquarters and appealed to other departments to adopt similar practices.
Present on this occasion were UPNL Director Major General Shammi Sabharwal (Retd.), Managing Director Brigadier JNS Bisht (Retd.), and Deputy General Manager Major Himanshu Rautela (Retd.).
