In the state’s Department of School Education, the entire process for granting leave to teachers and non-teaching staff will now be conducted online. Consequently, they will no longer have to make repeated rounds of administrative offices or engage in subservient behavior toward officials to obtain leave. To facilitate this, an online leave management module will soon be integrated into the digital platform of the ‘Vidya Samiksha Kendra’ (Education Review Center), enabling teachers and other staff members to apply for leave online.
The state’s Minister of School Education, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, stated that the government is actively promoting digital governance within the state’s education system. The objective is to leverage modern technology to ensure transparency, efficiency, good governance, and accountability within the department. In line with this initiative, the government has decided to digitize the entire leave application and approval process for teachers and non-teaching staff. Dr. Rawat explained that, pursuant to this decision, an online leave management module will be added to the Vidya Samiksha Kendra’s digital platform. Through this module, teachers and other staff members will be able to apply for leave online—anytime and from anywhere. Furthermore, the entire process of approving their leave applications will also be conducted online; this process is designed to be completely simple, transparent, and time-bound. As a result, teachers will be spared the hassle of visiting administrative offices to secure leave, as their applications will now be approved with just a single click.
Dr. Rawat noted that the implementation of this new online system will ensure that all records related to the leave of teachers and non-teaching staff remain secure and well-organized, thereby preventing any administrative complications in the future. Additionally, this system will simplify the leave approval process for officials and result in significant time savings. He added that, through this online medium, teachers will be able to apply for various types of leave—including casual leave, optional leave, earned leave, medical leave, maternity leave, and child-care leave—at their own convenience. Dr. Rawat further stated that departmental officials have already been issued directives to expedite the implementation of this online leave system for teachers. He also clarified that other administrative functions of the department would be digitized in a phased manner, with the ultimate goal of transforming the Department of Education into a fully e-governance-based system.
