Following the budget session held in the summer capital, Gairsain, Congress leaders held a press conference in Dehradun today. During the event, Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya leveled several allegations against the government. He asserted that democratic values were undermined during the Gairsain budget session. He stated that presenting the budget on the very day of the Governor’s address runs contrary to established parliamentary traditions. Furthermore, he characterized the extremely sparse attendance of ministers and BJP legislators in the House during the budget discussions as a manifestation of a lack of accountability towards the public.
He leveled a serious allegation regarding preparations to hand over valuable government and Irrigation Department lands—located in Vikasnagar, Mussoorie, and Yamuna Colony—into private hands. The Opposition clarified that alongside the ₹1.11 lakh crore budget, the state’s debt burden has also surged, reaching approximately ₹1.08 lakh crore. Finally, they accused the government of evading discussions in the House on critical issues such as unemployment, inflation, and migration, and of being solely focused on pushing its own agenda.
