The matter came to light when the National Federation of the Blind filed a public interest litigation in the High Court. Based on this litigation, the State Medical Board examined the disability certificates of some teachers in 2022 and found them to be fake. Following this, the Education Department was directed to take action against these teachers, but no action has been taken in the matter so far.
