Single women in the state will become self-reliant through self-employment. The government will provide a 75 percent subsidy on the project cost for this purpose. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will launch the scheme from Dehradun on February 10. Initially, 484 women from various districts will benefit from the scheme.
Under the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Single Women Self-Employment Scheme, unmarried, divorced, destitute, widowed, abandoned, transgender, and acid attack survivors aged between 21 and 50 years are eligible. The applicant’s annual income should not exceed ₹72,000.
According to departmental officials, the initial target was to benefit two thousand women under the scheme, but so far, 484 women have been selected based on applications received from various districts. This includes 42 women from Bageshwar district, 191 from Dehradun, 75 from Nainital, 66 from Pauri Garhwal, 23 from Tehri Garhwal, and 87 from Udham Singh Nagar district.
Grant of up to ₹1.5 lakh will be provided.
This scheme, which aims to empower women through self-employment, will provide a subsidy of 50 to 75 percent. The beneficiary will only have to contribute 25 percent.

Under the scheme, single women can become self-reliant by pursuing self-employment in various sectors such as tailoring, beauty parlors, bakeries, shops, etc. According to departmental officials, applications were invited from women under the scheme. Eligible women are also being selected from other districts.
The selection of women has been done based on applications received at the district level. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is launching the scheme on February 10, and on this day, five women from some districts will be invited to mark the launch of the scheme.
