Two IPS officers in the state completely disregarded the solemnity of the national Republic Day parade. One arrived in an incomplete uniform, while the other didn’t even bother to attend. An investigation into the matter has now been handed over to IG Headquarters, Dr. Sadanand Date.
The officers involved are Jitendra Mehra, who is posted in Haridwar, and Kush Mishra, who is posted in Dehradun. Mishra has already faced investigations in two cases last year. The conduct of officers during the Republic Day celebrations had been a subject of discussion from the very beginning. Some senior officers also failed to attend the program held at Lok Bhawan. Now, a new case involving two IPS officers has come to light.
In fact, during police ceremonial parades held on Republic Day, Independence Day, or any other national or state-level event, gazetted and non-gazetted officers are required to wear their ceremonial uniforms. IPS Jitendra Mehra failed to observe this rule and arrived at the parade in his regular uniform. He will now have to explain to the investigating officer the circumstances under which he did this.
Meanwhile, IPS Kush Mishra completely disregarded the significance of the occasion. He did not consider it necessary to attend the parade. He had only recently been posted to Dehradun district. Soon after his arrival, he was involved in two incidents that led to investigations. The Pauri SSP had conducted an investigation into a raid on a politician’s party and an incident of assault at a police outpost, and submitted the report to the headquarters.
Both officers’ cases have come to light. They will be asked to provide an explanation for their actions. The investigation into these matters has been entrusted to IG Headquarters, Dr. Sadanand Date
