Facing continuous pressure from the opposition regarding the Ankita Bhandari murder case, Minister Subodh Uniyal held a press conference today, stating that the government is ready for any investigation if evidence is provided. He said that the SIT investigation has been upheld by the Sessions Court, High Court, and Supreme Court. He added that the court itself had acknowledged that a CBI investigation was not necessary.
The Ankita Bhandari murder case, which occurred three years ago in Uttarakhand, has resurfaced in the news. A video went viral yesterday, causing a stir from Dehradun to Delhi. A war of words has erupted between the BJP and Congress. The Congress demanded a CBI investigation and the revelation of the VIP’s name, while the BJP accused the Congress of engaging in shameful politics. Now, the entire matter is back in the spotlight.
What was in the video of the former MLA’s alleged wife?
This entire matter began after a video was released on social media by the alleged wife of a former MLA. The alleged wife of BJP-expelled former MLA Suresh Rathore went live on Facebook and made revelations. In this video, the woman mentioned a VIP named Gattu in connection with the Ankita Bhandari murder case. She stated in the video that Gattu is a big BJP leader. She also mentioned a former district panchayat member. In the video, she asked what Gattu was saying there on the day Ankita was murdered? She also mentioned an audio recording in which it was said that the former district panchayat member has complete information. Since then, the matter has escalated.
What did the Congress say?
After the video went viral, the Congress immediately reacted. Uttarakhand Congress State President Ganesh Godiyal held a press conference in Delhi. He also showed the viral video during the press conference. He accused the government of suppressing the case. He demanded a CBI investigation under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge. He said that if the state government does not recommend a CBI investigation within ten days, the Congress will launch a statewide agitation.
The BJP said: Congress should reveal who the VIP is? BJP President Mahendra Bhatt said that the Congress is trying to divert attention from its failures by raising the issue of VIPs before the elections. The Congress itself should explain who these VIPs are. The real culprit in Ankita’s case is the Congress. The public has blessed the BJP to fight for justice for Ankita. The Congress needs to stop using the shield of misinformation and refrain from engaging in politics of accusations and counter-accusations. Bhatt said that at that time, the DGP had made a public appeal asking anyone with information about the VIPs to come forward. No one came forward then, and no one is coming forward now. By unnecessarily creating a conspiracy around Ankita’s case, the Congress is also insulting the soul of that young girl. He said that a complaint has been filed against the unverified viral video, alleging that it has been tampered with. The Congress is trying to use it as a political weapon, even though the past actions and political conspiracies of the woman whose audio has gone viral are no secret. He said that the Congress, which is making unverified allegations, should apologize.
