The case of Vinay Tyagi, a history-sheeter accused in 38 cases including murder, robbery, and theft, is unfolding like a suspenseful crime thriller. First, he was jailed for a seemingly ordinary bag theft, and now he’s been attacked while in police custody. The fact that the police officers didn’t retaliate during the attack, followed by the police’s rather bland statement after his capture, and the weapons recovered from the attackers โ all of it sounds like a script from a crime thriller series. In this script, both Vinay Tyagi and the police are playing central roles from the beginning. The question is, who is the villain? Is the scriptwriter himself the villain? Will the police find him, or has he made himself so powerful that he will never be caught?
In September, Vinay Tyagi was at his doctor friend’s house in Nehru Colony. On September 15th, the doctor friend filed a complaint against Vinay Tyagi, alleging that he had stolen a bag from his car. The police immediately registered a case and arrested Vinay Tyagi on September 29th, along with the bag. All the money and gold and silver coins were found in the bag. This action also raised questions: how could someone accused in 38 serious crimes commit such a petty theft? And even if he did commit the theft, the doctor himself doesn’t have a clean image. His role has always been under scrutiny, and several cases have been registered against him as well.
This was the September episode of this story, which raised a few questions in people’s minds, and then the matter cooled down. For the past few days, Vinay Tyagi has been continuously in the news. After about two months, discussions resumed about how Vinay Tyagi suddenly settled in Dehradun. One theory behind this was that the UP STF was searching for him. Therefore, he deliberately got himself involved in this theft case, using the doctor as a pawn. While these discussions were ongoing, he was attacked in Laksar a few days ago. This incident gave rise to many more questions and discussions. No concrete details, the heroic stories of encounters are being questioned.
The Haridwar police claimed to have arrested both the accused attackers the next day. There are only a handful of such cases in Uttarakhand. The incident was extremely audacious and has called into question the stories of police bravery in the encounters that have been taking place for the past two years. The attackers were apprehended, and it was reported that they had a financial dispute with Vinay Tyagi. Only this much was mentioned in the press note, but the police could not provide any concrete details about the nature of this dispute. It was reported that these two attackers had been involved in several crimes with Vinay Tyagi.
Could three bullets have been fired in a few seconds with country-made pistols?
Two country-made pistols were recovered from the attackers. Only one bullet can be loaded into such a pistol at a time. The attackers arrived on a motorcycle. The attacker sitting on the back fired the shots. Obviously, even if they had two pistols in both hands, they could only fire two shots. After that, one pistol would have had to be reloaded. This would have taken five to seven seconds, yet the police officers did not take any action. If it wasn’t reloaded, then there might have been three pistols, with one loaded pistol being taken out of a pocket and then fired. However, a third pistol was neither found at the crime scene nor on the two suspects.
Reports have been sought from both districts regarding the entire incident from September until now. The investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing. The reports will be included in the investigation once received. Further action will be taken based on the facts that emerge.
