Under the ongoing pre-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) activity in Uttarakhand, voters who have had their details mapped by the Booth Level Officer (BLO) will not need to submit any documents during the special intensive revision (SIR) process. The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has appealed to all voters to cooperate in the pre-SIR process.
The state currently has approximately 8.4 million voters. Their details are being mapped using the BLO app, based on the 2003 electoral roll, as part of the pre-SIR process. Each BLO has been given a target of contacting one page of the electoral roll daily, which is equivalent to 30 voters. During this process, BLOs are visiting homes to collect information from voters regarding their voting details from 2003. The app also provides BLOs with access to the electoral rolls of other states.
As soon as a voter provides their voting information from 2003, the BLO updates it in the mapping system. In the future, when the Election Commission of India begins the SIR process in Uttarakhand, voters will not need to submit any documents. They will only need to sign and affix their photograph to the SIR form and submit it to the BLO. Therefore, the Chief Electoral Officer’s office is appealing for cooperation in this process.
If you do not participate in the mapping process, you will have to provide information during the SIR:
Voters who are unable to provide their voting information during the BLO mapping process will have to submit documents along with the SIR enumeration form later. Those who fail to provide the documents will receive a notice from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). They will have to show the documents in response to this notice. Only after this will a decision be made regarding their current voting status.
