To promote wellness tourism in the state, preparations are underway to open naturopathy hospitals (natural medicine) for the first time. These hospitals will be built on the lines of resorts, where treatment will be provided using natural therapies without medicines. The AYUSH department has selected land in Champawat and Pithoragarh districts, while land is being sought in Bageshwar.
In the first phase, preparations are being made to open naturopathy hospitals in three districts of Uttarakhand to connect AYUSH and wellness with tourism. Land has been selected in Balwakot in Pithoragarh and Koli Dhek in Champawat. In addition, the process of selecting land in Bageshwar district is underway. The AYUSH department is preparing a proposal to open these naturopathy hospitals. The proposal will soon be sent to the central government for financial assistance. Under the AYUSH Mission, the central government will provide financial assistance for the naturopathy hospitals.
Treatment will be done naturally, without medicines.
Naturopathy uses herbs, diet, exercise, massage, hydrotherapy, yoga, and acupuncture. This method aims to treat the root cause of the disease and promote overall health, not just treat the symptoms. Naturopathy will offer facilities such as diet and nutrition, hydrotherapy, mud therapy, sun therapy, yoga and exercise therapy, herbal medicine, acupuncture and acupressure, massage therapy, fasting, and mind-body medicine.
Central Government Closes AYUSH Village Scheme
Last year, the central government launched the AYUSH Village scheme under the AYUSH Mission. Under this scheme, one AYUSH village was to be established in each district of Uttarakhand, but now the central government has closed the AYUSH Village scheme. Departmental officials say that instead of the AYUSH villages, the central government will provide financial assistance for opening naturopathy hospitals. The department is preparing a proposal for this.
In the first phase, a proposal is being prepared to open naturopathy hospitals in three districts. These hospitals will be established on the lines of resorts, offering excellent accommodation facilities along with natural therapies. This will promote wellness tourism in the state.
