A press conference was held today by the Congress State President Karan Mahara at the Uttarakhand Congress Headquarters in which Karan Mahara accused the State and Central Government of weakening the Right to Information and said that today the Government does not want to answer what the common people want to know. State President Congress Karan Mahara said in the press conference that on 12 October 2005, the UPA Government brought the Right to Information in the country and it was brought with a vision of a transparent system and foresight. Now, the Modi Government has worked to weaken the RTI after 2014 and following the same path, the BJP Government of the State has weakened the Right to Information in Uttarakhand as well. Electoral bonds are a big conspiracy in the NDA government, while the PM Care Fund was kept out of the scope of RTI, due to which the public does not get information about the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. In 2023, RTI was amended in Digital Personal Data Protection, in which personal data was protected but it is being misused, Congress also alleged that how can the information of a public representative be private, all the information of a public representative should be made public, it should be out of the private scope
