Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday inaugurated a 150-foot-long Bailey bridge on the Ramban-Gool road in the Jammu region. This will enhance connectivity in the region. Engineer troops of the White Knight Corps, in coordination with the National Highways Authority of India and civil authorities, completed the construction of a 150-foot-long, two-story, extra-wide Bailey bridge at Metra in Ramban district.
The Lieutenant Governor said on X, “I virtually inaugurated the Bailey Bridge on the Ramban-Gool road. This bridge is a symbol of hope and a lifeline for approximately 1.5 lakh people living in the Ramban, Sangaldan, and Gool areas. It will enhance connectivity and ease their lives.” He further stated that recent natural disasters have severely impacted life, damaging infrastructure, causing economic hardship, and disrupting the vital road connecting Gool, Sangaldan, and surrounding areas.
He said, “The brave Army engineers worked tirelessly and under challenging conditions to build this bridge. This Bailey Bridge is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and unwavering service of the Indian Army.” Sinha added that the Indian Army’s vital connectivity and assistance provided to the affected communities has also instilled new hope in the entire region.
The Defence Public Relations Officer, Jammu, stated that recent incessant rains in the Ramban district washed away a significant portion of the Karol-Maitra Road in the Ramban area of โโReasi. The PRO stated that this bridge restores a vital connectivity link, ensuring the smooth movement of essential supplies, emergency services, and local traffic.
