New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Punjab and Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, September 9, to review the flood-related situation. At around 1:30 pm, PM Modi will reach Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, where he will meet officials and chair a high-level review meeting on the situation. The Prime Minister will also meet flood-affected persons and NDRF, SDRF and Disaster Mitra team in Kangra.
After this, the Prime Minister will conduct an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Punjab at around 3 pm. He will reach Gurdaspur at around 4:15 pm, where he will hold discussions with senior officials and chair a review meeting on the ground situation.
He will also interact with flood-affected persons as well as NDRF, SDRF and Disaster Mitra team in Gurdaspur. The objective of the Prime Minister’s direct review is to closely monitor the relief and rehabilitation efforts to help the people of both the states in this difficult time.
Due to rain these days, rivers are in spate in Punjab, due to which there has been a lot of damage in almost all the districts of the state. On the other hand, heavy rains along with cloudburst in Himachal have caused huge devastation. Hundreds of people have lost their lives along with losses worth thousands of crores of rupees in both Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Recently, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the flood-affected areas of Punjab. During this, he assured all possible help.
The Prime Minister will understand the situation in Punjab
Prime Minister Modi has expressed deep concern about Punjab battling the horror of floods and has decided to take stock of the situation. In this regard, Punjab BJP State President Sunil Jakhar told on social media platform X that Prime Minister Modi will visit Punjab on September 9. During this, the PM will understand the local conditions closely and will take necessary steps to provide maximum assistance to the affected people. Jakhar wrote in the post, ‘Prime Minister Modi is very concerned about the flood situation in Punjab and is constantly monitoring it. He is visiting Punjab on 9 September so that he can personally assess the situation and understand the ground reality so that maximum help can be provided to the people of Punjab. Two teams of the central government sent to assess the damage caused by the floods in Punjab will submit their report to the central government after their visit.
PM can conduct aerial survey in Himachal
Prime Minister Modi can also conduct aerial survey of Chamba, Mandi and Kullu districts in Himachal Pradesh. Regarding this, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that PM Modi’s visit to Kangra parliamentary constituency is proposed on the 9th. A detailed report on the damage caused by the disaster in Himachal will also be presented to the Prime Minister and he will also be asked to send relief funds. During this time, if the weather remains good, PM Modi can also do an aerial survey of the affected areas.
Due to heavy rains between June 20 and September 7 in Himachal Pradesh, cloudburst, flash floods and landslides have caused losses worth about Rs 4,080 crore. It is said that apart from taking stock of the disaster-affected areas, PM Modi will also hold a meeting with Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and officers at Kangra Airport. Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur will also be present in this meeting. PM โโModi’s helicopter will land at Gaggal Airport at 11:15. Security arrangements have been tightened here. The SPG team has reached Dharamshala.
