New Delhi: In the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, 2 lakh 41 thousand 19 claims and objections have been registered on the draft voter list till August 31. The total claims and objections received also include claims and objections filed by the booth level agents (BLAs) of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
According to the daily bulletin on Bihar SIR released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) till 10 am on Sunday, a total of 128 claims and objections have been filed by political parties so far. Of these, 118 claims have been filed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation and 10 by the Rashtriya Janata Dal. The Congress, which is opposing the SIR, has not yet filed any claim or objection, while only one day is left for it.
Boot Level Agents (BLA) appointed by political parties can collect claims (Form 6) and objections (Form 7) from the public. Objections can be filed by themselves with the prescribed declaration. According to the Election Commission of India, general complaints without the prescribed form or declaration are not counted as claims and objections.
According to the Election Commission, out of the total claims and objections, 2,40,881 claims and objections have been received directly from the voters. 38,342 claims and objections have been settled. The ECI said that the claims and objections are to be settled by the concerned ERO/AERO before the expiry of the seven-day notice period and after verification of eligibility.
Let us tell you that the process of SIR is going on in Bihar since June 24. According to the orders of SIR, no name can be removed from the draft list published on August 1 without passing an order after investigation by the ERO/AERO and giving a fair and reasonable opportunity.
The Election Commission said that the list of names not included in the draft voter list as on August 1, along with the reasons, has been displayed in searchable mode with EPIC number on the websites of District Election Officers/District Magistrates (district wise) as well as on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer. The aggrieved persons can submit their claim along with a copy of their Aadhaar card.
In addition, 15,32,438 forms have been received so far for inclusion of names from new voters aged 18 years or above. Out of these, 81,073 have been disposed of.
