In Dehradun, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam held a crucial meeting with recognized political parties regarding the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) campaign. The primary objective of this meeting was to ensure the electoral roll is error-free and to guarantee transparency in the revision process.
Key highlights of the campaign:
• Progress Report: The distribution of enumeration forms is 99% complete, and the digitization of 20% of the data has also been finished. All District Election Officers have been instructed to complete the remaining work in a time-bound manner based on daily targets.
• ASDD Category: During field visits conducted as part of the campaign, 76,754 voters have so far been identified under the ASD (Absent, Shifted, Dead) category. The Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to political parties to assist Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in verifying these voters through their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) before July 7, ensuring that no eligible person’s name is removed from the list.
• Important Dates: The revision process will be conducted based on the qualifying date of July 1, 2026. The draft roll will be published on July 14, 2026, and claims and objections can be filed until August 13. The final publication of the electoral roll will take place on September 15, 2026.
Currently, more than 22,900 BLAs are deployed across the state’s 11,733 polling booths. The administration expects full cooperation from all parties in preparing a fair and accurate electoral roll.
