Comprehensive training programs on disaster management and capacity building will be conducted in Uttarakhand in collaboration with the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM). Madhup Vyas, Executive Director of NIDM, visited the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) in Dehradun to deliberate on the action plan for the upcoming annual training calendar.
Key Highlights:
• Master Trainers: To strengthen the training framework, 10 master trainers will be prepared in each district during the first phase; they will subsequently train other personnel at the local level. Additionally, a specialized group of trainers will be formed at the state level.
• Target Groups: Employees from various departments, including IAS and PCS officers, will receive specialized training in disaster mitigation, relief and rescue operations, and rapid response, tailored to their specific roles.
• Practical Exercises: Preparation for handling actual disasters will go beyond theory, incorporating mock drills and practical activities.
Vinod Kumar Suman, Secretary of Disaster Management, stated that the objective of this initiative is to develop a skilled and trained workforce capable of rapid response within the state.
