Traffic closed in Uttarkashi from 9 pm to 5 am
Uttarkashi: In view of the monsoon season, the district administration has banned the movement of vehicles from 9 pm to 5 am at all police barriers in the district. During this time, only emergency vehicles including ambulances and vehicles of military and paramilitary forces will be allowed to move.
During the monsoon season, incidents of landslides are seen on the state highways and connecting roads including the Gangotri and Yamunotri highways of the district. On the other hand, the Char Dham Yatra is also being conducted in the district these days. In view of this, instructions have been issued by the District Disaster Management Department that the movement of all types of vehicles will be banned at night. There are 6 police barriers in the district.
Vehicles coming after 9 pm on these barriers will be stopped at safe places nearby. Because in the past years, many incidents have been seen due to sudden landslides during the movement of vehicles at night.
That is why this order has been issued. However, during this time, emergency vehicles including military and paramilitary vehicles will be allowed to move. According to the instructions issued by the Disaster Management Department, even local vehicles will not be allowed to move during this time.
