Karnprayag (Chamoli): Badrinath Highway has been closed due to debris from the hill near Gauchar Taldhari. In the morning, heavy debris and boulders fell on the highway from the hill. During this, people passing through there narrowly escaped. A rock broke from the hill about 500 meters ahead of Karnaprayag Neni Sain Motor Road ITI.
Due to the closure of the road, the people of Kapiripatti will have to reach Karnaprayag via Dimmar Simli. Heavy rain continues in Uttarakhand even today. The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rain for nine districts including Dehradun. Whereas, an orange alert for heavy rain has been issued in other districts as well.
Orange alert for rain issued
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, a red alert for heavy to very heavy rain has been issued in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts including Dehradun. There is a possibility of very heavy rain in these districts. Apart from these, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rain in other districts as well.
While giving instructions to the people, meteorologists have said that due to heavy rains in these places, waterlogging, landslides can occur and the water level of rivers and streams can increase. In such a situation, be more cautious during the day as well as night and avoid going near rivers and streams. Apart from this, avoid traveling in mountainous areas if not necessary.
Haridwar- Ganga water level reached close to the warning line
The Ganga overflowed due to torrential rains in the mountains and plains. The water level of the Ganga started rising due to the rain that started early Friday morning, which increased to 292.90 at 11 am near the warning line of 293 meters. The administration evacuated the Ganga Ghats. People living on the banks of the Ganga were also alerted. Flood relief posts and the administration of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are on alert. The water level is being monitored every moment.
