The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Dehradun has personally taken to the field to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the Kanwar Mela. On Saturday, he visited the Rishikesh, Raiwala, and Ranipokhari areas to review security arrangements. During the visit, he welcomed pilgrims arriving in the fair zone by garlanding them, inquired about their journey, and distributed fruits, sweets, and beverages while wishing them a safe trip.
During the inspection, the SSP interacted with the police personnel on duty to boost their morale; he instructed them to remain mindful of their health and to discharge their duties with utmost dedication. In view of the surging crowds during the final phase of the fair, he directed officials to coordinate with neighboring districts to ensure the pilgrimage proceeds only along designated routes and that vehicles are parked strictly at assigned locations, thereby preventing traffic congestion on main roads.
Other officials, including the Superintendent of Police (Crime/Traffic), the Superintendent of Police (Rural), and the Circle Officer (Rishikesh), were also present on the occasion.
