In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Uttarakhand Social Welfare Department, a special public awareness campaign themed “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchan” (Drug-Free India Campaign – Identity of a Developed India) will be conducted in Dehradun district from June 17 to June 26, 2026. Under the guidance of Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah, the campaign aims to sensitize the youth and the general public about the adverse effects of substance abuse.
Key activities of the campaign:
• Sports and Competitions: Football, volleyball, and marathon events will be organized from June 17 to June 20, involving approximately 400 participants. Winners will also be awarded prizes.
• Extensive Program Schedule: From June 21 to June 26, rallies, runs, street plays (nukkad nataks), yoga sessions, speech competitions, and signature campaigns will be organized across all development blocks.
• Awareness in Institutions: Special programs will be held at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Boys’ Hostel, Women’s ITI, the Government De-addiction Centre (Raiwala), and various educational institutions. Additionally, intensive outreach and publicity campaigns will be conducted in areas identified as drug-abuse hotspots.
District Social Welfare Officer Dipankar Ghildiyal stated that voluntary organizations have also been roped in for this campaign. The CDO has instructed all concerned departments to submit photographs, videos, and expenditure details of the programs in a timely manner to ensure effective monitoring of the campaign. An appeal has been made to all sections of society to participate actively in this initiative.
