Ganesh Joshi, the state’s Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, held a crucial meeting with departmental officials at his camp office on Tuesday. Discussions focused on the upcoming event for the transfer of the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi on June 20 and preparations for the proposed visit of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Uttarakhand.
Key directives and programs:
• Kisan Samman Nidhi: The Minister directed that the state-level event for the transfer of the 23rd installment be organized in Haridwar. Additionally, he instructed that special programs be held in every development block of the state to ensure maximum farmer participation.
• Union Minister’s Visit: Instructions were issued to complete all preparations on time in accordance with the itinerary for Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s visit to Pantnagar and Rudrapur on June 26.
• New Initiatives: It was announced during the meeting that new weather stations under the crop insurance scheme would be inaugurated. Furthermore, cluster-based projects—approved by the Central Government at a cost of ₹25 crore—aimed at protecting crops from wild animals would also be launched.
The Agriculture Minister directed officials to prominently showcase farmer-centric schemes during these events and to ensure that all arrangements are completed in a timely manner.
