A student studying at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar was swept away by the strong currents of the Alaknanda River while bathing. Upon receiving the information, teams from the police and the SDRF immediately launched a search operation.
According to reports, Anand Sohan (23)—a third-year B.Tech Computer Science student at NIT Srinagar and a resident of Telangana—entered the Alaknanda River to bathe along with four friends around 4:00 PM. Due to the river’s swift flow, he was swept away by the current.
His friends attempted to save him, but within moments, he was carried away by the river’s strong currents. Kotwali Station In-charge, Inspector Vinay Kumar, stated that immediately after receiving the report regarding the student being swept away in the Alaknanda River, teams comprising the police administration, the Water Police, and the SDRF rushed to the scene, where a rescue operation is currently underway to locate the student.
