Chennai: TVK chief Thalapathy Vijay has announced that his public meeting will be held tomorrow in Kanchipuram district. While all parties are campaigning for the 2026 assembly elections, the TVK party has also announced that it will campaign every Saturday.
According to this, during the three-phase campaign, 41 people died in a stampede in Karur on September 27th. Due to this, the party’s campaigning was temporarily halted. Party leader Vijay did not travel for almost a month after this incident. Now, he has invited the families of the victims to meet him in Mahabalipuram.
Following this, he has again become active on social media and held a meeting of the party’s general committee. He also announced that TVK’s political journey will resume and said that preparations are underway for a public meeting.
Meanwhile, tomorrow (November 23rd), an indoor public meeting will be held in Kanchipuram, in which TVK leader Vijay will participate. Regarding this, TVK General Secretary Anand stated in an X-post, “Only 2,000 people from Kanchipuram district have been permitted to attend the event, scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Jeppiaar Institute of Technology campus. All must come with entry tickets with a QR code.”
Following this, TVK leader Vijay, who had planned to resume his campaign by visiting each district and meeting people, filed a petition with the district police department and requested permission to campaign in Salem on December 4th. The police department refused permission citing security reasons, as December 3rd is Karthigai Deepam and December 6th is the day the Babri Masjid was demolished.
A statement was issued by the police stating that the petition filed by TVK did not specify the number of people attending the meeting and that the petition should be filed four weeks before the event date.
