In a meeting of the Uttarakhand Cabinet led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, several historic decisions were taken regarding the rural economy, worker welfare, education, and infrastructure development.
To promote animal husbandry, the scope of the ‘State Sector Cow Rearing Scheme’ has been expanded to include livestock owners from the general category as well. Beneficiaries will now be able to purchase buffaloes in addition to cows, with the unit cost raised from ₹40,000 to ₹60,000. Under this scheme, a 60% subsidy will be provided to the general category and a 90% subsidy to SC/ST categories.
To safeguard the interests of workers, the ‘Uttarakhand Wage Code Rules-2026’ and ‘Industrial Relations Rules-2026’ have been approved, ensuring timely wages, digital payments, equal pay, and dispute resolution. Additionally, the path has been cleared for the transfer of 40 hectares of land for the High Court complex in Haldwani, the creation of 122 posts for the State Sports University, and the extension of the Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Haridwar.
In the education sector, new operational guidelines have been introduced for SC/ST hostels. Furthermore, a provision for a 100-mark written examination has been made to ensure transparency in the recruitment process for ‘Scalers’ in the Forest Development Corporation. These decisions will provide fresh momentum to the state’s development.
