Dehradun: A junk shop located in Govindgarh of Thana Basant Vihar area of the city suddenly caught fire late on Tuesday night. The fire caused chaos in the surrounding area. The police was informed by the local people. After receiving the information, the police and fire brigade team reached the spot. But by then the fire had taken a horrific form. The fire was brought under control after a lot of effort by 6 fire brigade vehicles. There is no loss of life due to the fire. The fire brigade is gathering information about the causes of the fire.
According to the information, Naushad’s junk shop is located in Shrirampur Govindgarh before the Kanwali Road Balliwala flyover. The junk shop suddenly caught fire late on Tuesday night. Local people informed the police about the fire. As soon as the information was received, the police station Basant Vihar police and fire brigade team reached the spot but by then the fire had taken a horrific form. The fire brigade team tried to extinguish the fire with the help of pumping and foam. But it was unsuccessful. After this, the garbage was removed with the help of JCB and again the fire was controlled by continuous pumping with 6 fire brigade vehicles.
Basant Vihar police station in-charge Pradeep Rawat said that the shop was rented by Naushad, a resident of Saharanpur, who works as a scrap dealer. Due to the fire, the goods kept inside the shop have been burnt. Prima facie, the fire seems to have been caused by a short circuit. A detailed investigation is being conducted into the causes of the incident.
