Dehradun District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan has once again set an example of public service. During the ‘Samadhan Diwas’ (Grievance Redressal Day) held on Monday, he listened to the grievances of 171 complainants and ensured the resolution of most issues on the spot. Thanks to his proactive working style, this event has evolved from a mere formality into a significant platform for delivering justice to the public.
Several serious cases came to light during the event. Fifteen youths from Rishikesh complained of being defrauded of lakhs of rupees under the pretext of being sent abroad; taking immediate cognizance of this, the DM ordered action against the accused under the ‘Gangster Act’. Meanwhile, to secure the release of a disability pension that had been pending for four years for Sangeeta Devi of Nehru Gram, the DM directed the Medical and Social Welfare Departments to take immediate action.
Additionally, the District Magistrate issued clear directives to the concerned officials regarding issues such as illegal encroachments, the usurpation of land belonging to the elderly, electricity-related problems, and infrastructure damaged by disasters. He stated unequivocally that negligence in public service would not be tolerated and that the administration would adopt a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy regarding matters concerning women, the elderly, and the youth. Dr. Chauhanโs prompt action and empathetic approach have once again strengthened public trust in the administrative system.
