Alongside the planned development of Dehradun, its historical and cultural heritage will also be preserved. Significant decisions regarding the conservation of heritage sites were taken during a meeting chaired by District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan.
Key Highlights:
• 200 Properties Identified: 200 historical properties in the city have been identified at a preliminary stage with the assistance of INTACH and the Drona Foundation.
• Workshop in October: Heritage sites will be documented under the ‘Historic City Series-2026’. A workshop will be held in October to gather suggestions, and these sites will be integrated into the city’s master plan and town planning.
• DPR to be Prepared: Consultants will be appointed to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the conservation of the selected heritage sites, which will then be submitted to the government.
The District Magistrate emphasized that development and heritage complement each other. Preserving Dehradun’s historical identity for future generations, alongside modern progress, is a priority.
