At a press conference held at the Congress state headquarters, Manglaur MLA Qazi Nizamuddin leveled serious allegations against the state government and the Election Commission, accusing them of misusing the administrative machinery and rigging electoral processes.
He stated that fair elections are the backbone of democracy, yet today, massive irregularities are evident at every level—ranging from Gram Panchayat, municipal body, and cooperative elections to student union polls. Citing examples, he noted that in the Narsan block, a winning candidate was defeated by a single vote after a recount was conducted eight times. Similarly, a nomination was cancelled without due scrutiny during the Manglaur municipal elections, and the DAV College student union election was influenced by the arrest of a student leader under pressure from those in power.
Expressing concern over the SIR process and the targeted deletion of names from voter lists, he affirmed that the Congress party would safeguard every citizen’s right to vote.
