Immediately upon returning from his visit to Delhi, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami went straight to the State Emergency Operations Centre to review the rescue operations for 179 trekkers and mountaineers stranded in the high-altitude Himalayan regions. Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman reported that 136 people were stranded in Uttarkashi and 43 in the Pindari Glacier area of Bageshwar.
Of those stranded in Uttarkashi, 40 have been safely evacuated, while another 40 expressed a desire to continue their journey. The operation to safely evacuate the remaining individuals will resume at 6 AM on Monday. Eight helicopters have been deployed for the rescue mission, and an air ambulance is on standby for emergencies.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to prioritize the safe return of every individual. Additionally, while reviewing the arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra, he directed them to formulate a long-term plan for solid waste management at the pilgrimage sites
