Dehradun: Heavy rains have been continuing in many districts of Uttarakhand since yesterday. Waterlogging and landslides have occurred in many districts of the state due to heavy rains. Along with this, incidents of loss of life have come to light due to boulders falling on vehicles from the hill on many routes. The roads of Haridwar were seen submerged in water and two-wheelers and four-wheelers were seen floating in the water. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has again predicted heavy rains in many districts today. Along with this, a yellow alert has been issued and people have been appealed to be alert.
According to the Dehradun Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain has been predicted in most places of all the districts of Uttarakhand. Heavy rains have been predicted at some places in Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar, Pauri, Tehri and Dehradun districts of the state. For which an orange alert has been issued. Heavy rains with thunder and lightning have been predicted at some places in all the districts of the state. In view of which the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert.
The sky will generally remain cloudy in Dehradun. Light to moderate rain may occur in many areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 28°C and 23°C respectively. Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Champawat, Pauri Garhwal and Udham Singh Nagar District Magistrates have declared holiday for all government and private schools from class 1 to 12 as well as Anganwadi centers in view of the possibility of heavy rain today. Also, in view of the alert of the Meteorological Department, people have been appealed to be alert.
After continuous rain for the last 2 days, fog prevailed in many areas of Nainital district on Tuesday morning. Visibility became very low in plain areas like Haldwani, Kaladhungi, Lalkuan and Ramnagar early in the morning, affecting normal life. Due to low visibility, drivers had to drive with headlights on, vehicles are seen crawling due to fog. Especially two-wheeler and public transport drivers were finding it difficult to see the road ahead. According to the local people, a white sheet had spread across the entire area since around 5:15 am. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to take precautions. The Meteorological Department says that after heavy rains, due to increased humidity in the atmosphere and falling temperature, fog has formed, which can be seen in the morning for the next 1-2 days.
Due to continuous rain in the mountains, the water level of Ganga has increased in Rishikesh. At the same time, due to the increase in water level, the Aarti Sthal of Parmarth Niketan has been submerged, the Ganges is flowing touching the idol of Lord Shiva, in Rishikesh also the Aarti Sthal of Triveni Ghat is completely filled to the brim, the bathing ghats have been submerged. The administration has appealed to send people to a safe place by making Munari in the Ganga City area. At many places, rainwater has also entered people’s homes.
