Rorkee: During the 13-day long Kanwar Yatra, 73 Kanwariyas were injured in different road accidents in Roorkee area, out of which 8 Kanwariyas died. While the number of injured in road accidents in the Kanwar Yatra of the year 2024 was high, this time the Haridwar district police and administration had made very strict arrangements for the safety of Kanwar pilgrims.
The Kanwar Yatra started on 11th July and concluded on 23rd July. At the same time, this 13-day long Kanwar Yatra is considered to be the biggest religious journey of devotion, faith and belief. At the same time, in this Kanwar Yatra of the year 2025, 4 crore 50 lakh Shiva devotees Kanwariyas reached Haridwar. However, due to the increasing number of Kanwariyas, the administration and social workers set up medical camps, food camps and camps to relieve their fatigue at various places on the Kanwar route.
So that the Kanwariyas do not face any kind of problem and a large number of Kanwariyas come to Haridwar from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, UP, Rajasthan and many other states during the Kanwar Yatra and the Shiva devotees reach their place by walking hundreds of kilometers with Gangajal. This time, in view of the possibility of more than 4 crore Kanwariyas coming to Haridwar, the administration had also made extensive arrangements for the convenience and safety of the Kanwariyas. Despite this, sporadic incidents were also seen during the Kanwar Yatra. Along with this, many different road accidents also took place, while in these road accidents, the number of road accidents in Roorkee area has been less this time as compared to last year.
In fact, this year in 2025, 73 Kanwariyas were injured in different road accidents in Roorkee area, who were admitted to Roorkee Civil Hospital for treatment. In the incident, 8 Kanwariyas, including Vijay Kumar resident of Delhi, Yograj resident of Haryana, Parshottam Sharma resident of Ghaziabad Uttar Pradesh, Jiya resident of Meerut Uttar Pradesh, Ravi Kumar resident of Punjab, Rohit resident of Haryana and two unidentified people died in road accidents. On the other hand, if we talk about the Kanwar Yatra of the year 2024, then 4 crore 14 lakh 44 thousand Shiva devotee Kanwariyas reached Haridwar. In the year 2024, 109 Kanwariyas were injured in different road accidents in Roorkee area, out of which 6 Kanwariyas died.
