Rudraprayag: A 65-year-old woman was killed by a leopard in Ashram Tok of Makhet village. The woman was weeding in the garden near her house. On receiving information about the incident, the forest department team has reached the spot. Angry villagers said that a leopard had killed a woman ten days ago as well, but the forest department did not take any action.
On Tuesday late evening around 5 pm, Rameshwari Devi, a resident of Ashram Tok of Makhet village, was weeding in the garden of her house on the Mayali-Makhet motor road. During this time, the leopard attacked the woman, before she could understand anything, the leopard badly injured her neck with its teeth and nails and dragged her into the bushes. At around 7.30 pm, when her son Chandrashekhar reached home from the shop, he called out to his mother, on not getting any response, he asked his elderly father.
He told that she had gone to the field and when he reached there, he saw blood lying there. When he shouted, other people reached there and started searching for the woman. The body of the woman was found in the bushes about two hundred meters away from the field. ACF of Rudraprayag Forest Division Dr. Diwakar Pant reached the spot with the team and investigated.
Let us tell you that on May 30, Rupa Devi (59) was also killed by a leopard in Danda village while working in the field near her house. On February 25 also, a leopard killed an elderly woman in Dewal village.
