Dehradun: All the players who won medals for Uttarakhand in the 38th National Games will soon get their cash prize money. For this, Rs 15 crore was released by the government on Tuesday. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that with the aim of encouraging the players of the state, the government had doubled the cash prize money for winning medals in the National Games.
So far in the history of National Games, such cash prize money has not been given in any state for winning gold, silver and bronze medals. There are about 240 such players in the state who have won medals in individual and group competition.
The Sports Minister said that he had placed the matter of the prize money budget before the Chief Minister in the cabinet meeting last week. The CM has taken immediate action on his request. Now, by organizing the program as soon as possible, all the medal winners will be given their cash prize money. Also, the process of giving out of turn government jobs to the medal winners will also be completed soon.
