Dehradun:544 such places have been identified on Chardham Yatra routes in four districts of Uttarakhand, which are accident prone. Transport Headquarters has sent a letter to NHAI, BRO and Public Works Department for immediate treatment of these areas. A report has also been sought after doing all the treatment soon.
In order to make Chardham Yatra smooth and accident free, the Road Safety Committees of Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts were instructed to conduct a survey. These committees have identified 544 accident prone areas, where improvement is needed. In the report, 38 accident prone areas have been mentioned in Haridwar, 65 in Chamoli, 297 in Tehri, 144 in Vikasnagar of Dehradun and Rishikesh.
Suggestions have been given for traffic calming measures, rumble strips, information boards, potholes on the road, chevron boards, unauthorized median openings, blind curves, crash barriers, road markings, reflectors, removal of debris on the road. The concerned departments will do this work within the stipulated time frame. The journey on the Chardham Yatra routes will be made safe. Instructions have also been given to Pauri, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi to send the report soon.

Tehri: 79 sites on Muni Ki Reti-Kirti Nagar NH-7, 13 on Suwakholi-Nagun NH-30, 20 on Muni Ki Reti-Agra Khal-Chamba-Kamand-Nagun NH-34, 27 from Chabargaon to Kemundakhal NH-15, 20 from Ghansali to Kemundakhal NH-15, 15 from Ghansali to Chirbatiya NH-15, 15 from Lata to Budhakedar NH-73, 47 on Sendul-Rajakhet-Ghansali NH-69, 17 on Peepaldali-Rajakhet rural road, 29 on Rajakhet-Madannegi-Motana-Lambagaon NH-15, 09 on Santuradevi-Kampti-Yamunapul NH-707A, 06 sites on Yamunapul-Nainbag-Diyadi NH-707A. Dehradun: 38 sites on the Barwala-Juddo-Yamunabridge route, 35 on the Shyampur-Gumaniwala-Nataraj Chowk route SH, 21 on the Nataraja Chowk-Ranipokhari-Doiwala route, 50 sites on the Nepalifarm-Shyampur-IDPL-Rishikesh route.
