Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) is expanding and modernizing the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Hostel for children in need. With a capacity of approximately 100 children, the hostel aims to provide safe accommodation and education to orphans, the destitute, children with disabilities, those rescued from begging, and children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
To ensure energy self-reliance, a 10 kVA rooftop solar plant has been installed at the hostel. Additionally, 10 air coolers have been provided to offer relief from the heat. A new hall for group and educational activities is also proposed, and the tendering process for it has already commenced.
MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari and Secretary Mohan Singh Barnia stated that the Authority is prioritizing social welfare alongside development, ensuring that underprivileged children can study in a safe environment and become self-reliant
