District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan heard 164 grievances from citizens during the ‘Samadhan Diwas’ (Grievance Redressal Day) held at the Dehradun Collectorate. He issued strict instructions to officials, stating that negligence at any level regarding the resolution of public issues would not be tolerated. Key issues raised during the event included land fraud, illegal encroachment, social assistance, and damage caused by the monsoon.
Key Issues and Actions Taken:
• Financial and Family Assistance: A mother sought help for her family, which was in distress due to her son’s online gaming addiction. Meanwhile, other women requested financial aid for medical treatment and their children’s education.
• Harassment of the Elderly: In a case involving a son harassing his parent and usurping property, the DM ordered the SDM to immediately register a case under the Maintenance Act. Instructions were also issued to the CO (Circle Officer) of Mussoorie to take action regarding a complaint about illegal possession of ancestral property.
• Encroachment and Safety: The task of investigating illegal encroachments in the villages of Siddhowala and Badamwala was assigned to the SDM of Vikasnagar. Orders were issued to take action against the builder for failing to construct a safety wall near Central Park Residency on Dhoran Road, and the Irrigation Department was directed to carry out necessary safety works.
