A meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee was held on Monday at the Dehradun Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan, during which several major projects related to the state’s development were approved.
The key decisions taken at the meeting are as follows:
• Government Medical College, Haridwar: The revised cost for the college was approved. The Chief Secretary directed that immediate steps be taken to recruit faculty and make appropriate provisions for the college’s maintenance to ensure it becomes operational quickly.
• Haldwani Transport Office (RTO): Approval was granted for the construction of a new Regional Transport Office in Haldwani at a cost of ₹3,569.28 lakh. Instructions were issued to cancel the previous project and initiate it afresh.
• Other Infrastructure Projects: The green signal was also given for a ‘Super ECBC’ office building at the UREDA Energy Park complex (costing ₹16.13 crore) and a drinking water supply scheme on Sahastradhara Road (costing ₹113.16 crore).
Senior government officials, including Principal Secretary Shri R. Meenakshi Sundaram and Secretary Shri Brijesh Kumar Sant, attended the meeting. These projects are expected to bring about significant improvements in the state’s medical, transport, and civic amenities
