During the ‘Samadhan Diwas’ (Grievance Redressal Day) held in Dehradun, District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan heard 194 public grievances. On this occasion, he issued strict instructions to officials to remain sensitive to the issues raised and to ensure the time-bound resolution of pending cases. Key issues highlighted during the meeting included land disputes, encroachments, loan-related problems, and maintenance/alimony matters.
The DM directed the Health Department to identify children suffering from serious illnesses under the ‘Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram’ and organize special camps for their treatment. In view of monsoon preparations, the Public Works Department and the Irrigation Department were instructed to expedite work on bridge safety, river channelization, and the improvement of internal city roads. Additionally, directives were issued to ensure adequate lighting in the city’s ‘dark spots’ to guarantee women’s safety.
Strict action was also taken regarding individual complaints during the meeting. Addressing issues such as the maintenance of the elderly, illegal encroachments, and irregularities in bank loan procedures, the DM made it clear that negligence would not be tolerated. He instructed the ADM and the Lead Bank Officer to investigate the bank’s loan approval process. Administrative officials and district-level heads of various departments were present during the proceedings.
