On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Transport Department, Dehradun, launched a special campaign to raise public awareness regarding environmental conservation, pollution control, and road safety. Conducted under the guidance of Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) Dr. Anita Chamola, the campaign involved intensive vehicle inspections at various key locations.
During the campaign, drivers’ Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates were checked, and those lacking valid certificates were instructed to get them tested immediately. Additionally, Transport Department teams conducted surprise inspections of various pollution testing centers to ensure transparency regarding equipment and the issuance of certificates. Motorists were encouraged to conserve fuel, ensure regular vehicle servicing, and maintain proper tire pressure.
While planting a sapling to convey the message of environmental conservation, Dr. Anita Chamola stated that a clean environment and safe transportation complement each other. Meanwhile, Additional Transport Commissioner Mr. Sanat Kumar Singh, describing this as a collective responsibility, appealed to citizens to use public transport, plant more trees, and adopt eco-friendly transportation habits. The department affirmed that such campaigns focused on road safety and pollution control would continue in the future
