Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand government has taken a significant step toward improving traffic management in the hilly regions. The Departmental Expenditure Committee of the Housing Department has granted in-principle approval for the construction of multi-level parking facilities in Gairsain (Chamoli) and Kanda (Bageshwar).
Key decisions regarding these two projects were taken during a meeting chaired by Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Secretary of Housing and State Estates:
โข **Gairsain Parking Project:** To be constructed at a cost of โน1,504.35 lakh, this modern parking facility will accommodate 91 vehicles (36 on the ground floor and 55 on the terrace). It also includes provisions for 7 shops and a car lift. In alignment with the Chief Minister’s announcement, the Secretary has directed officials to focus exclusively on the construction of the parking facility and to submit a revised proposal expeditiously.
โข **Kanda Parking Project:** Valued at โน540.85 lakh, this project will provide parking space for 53 vehicles. Additionally, 7 shops and restroom facilities will be developed on its ground floor. The facility will be operated by the District Development Authority, Bageshwar.
Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar stated that these projects would not only alleviate vehicular congestion in the hill towns but also provide a significant boost to local trade and tourism. He has directed officials to ensure both quality and adherence to timelines during the execution of the work
