Principal Secretary Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram provided information regarding the Economic Survey of Uttarakhand. She held a press conference in the Secretariat Media Center auditorium. Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram said that to mark the completion of four years of the government, the Planning Department released the Economic Survey for the financial year 2025-26 on Thursday. She also presented comparative figures from the previous four years.
According to the Planning Department, the state’s GSDP has increased by one and a half times compared to 2022. The size of the state’s GSDP in 2022 was 2.54 lakh crore, which has increased to more than 3.81 lakh crore. The state’s per capita income has also increased.
While the per capita income in 2022 was 1.94 lakh crore, it has now increased to 2.73 lakh crore. The poverty index has also declined compared to 2022. The poverty index has fallen from 9.7% to 6.92%. He stated that the MSME sector in the state has also seen significant growth. Under this, there were approximately 59,000 industries in 2022. Over the past four years, this number has increased to over 79,000, providing employment to approximately 4.5 lakh people.
The Principal Secretary stated that the number of large industries in the state has increased from 107 in 2022 to 128. The number of startups has also increased over the past four years. In 2017, there were no startups. In 2022, 702 startups were registered, bringing the total to 1,750.
In the past four years, 885 kilometers of roads have been constructed in the state. Electricity production from solar power plants has also seen a record increase. In 2022, solar power generation was 439 megawatts, which has now increased to 1,027 megawatts. Growth has also been observed in rice, milk, and fish production. The manufacturing sector contributes the highest 26.02% to the state’s GSDP
