New Delhi: The country’s first rapid rail, Namo Bharat, is operating between New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and Meerut South. Soon, Namo Bharat will run on the entire corridor.
Currently, Namo Bharat was operating on a total of 11 stations between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South, but after February 22nd, it will begin operating on the entire corridor. According to information received, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Shatabdi Nagar to Modipuram section on February 22nd. Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration, Namo Bharat services will become available to the public in this area.
According to information provided by Ghaziabad District Information Officer Yogendra Pratap Singh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting with divisional officials in the meeting hall at Hindon Airport on February 12th, 2026. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding preparations for the inauguration ceremony scheduled for February 22nd, 2026.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed that all necessary arrangements be completed within the stipulated timeframe to ensure the inauguration ceremony is conducted safely and successfully.
According to Puneet Vats, Chief Public Relations Officer of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation, the frequency of Namo Bharat will be increased for passenger convenience once Namo Bharat begins operating on the entire corridor. Currently, Namo Bharat is operating between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South, and passenger traffic is steadily increasing. The daily ridership is expected to increase further once the entire corridor is operational. Keeping this in mind, NCERT is already preparing an operational plan to ensure that passengers do not face any difficulties or wait times during peak hours.
Staff deployment, ticketing, and security arrangements will also undergo changes – NCRTC
NCRTC officials say that once operations commence on the entire corridor, not only will the frequency of Namo Bharat be increased, but necessary changes will also be made to staff deployment, ticketing, and security arrangements as needed. To ensure passengers experience a smooth, safe, and time-efficient travel experience while traveling on Namo Bharat. Therefore, initially, passenger feedback will be analyzed and further improvements will be made in a phased manner.
According to information, Namo Bharat is currently operating on a 55-kilometer corridor. The total length of the corridor between Delhi and Meerut is 82 kilometers. On October 20, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first section of Namo Bharat, between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot.
Currently, operations are yet to commence on the New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan (4.5 kilometers) and Meerut South to Modipuram (23 kilometers). After the commencement of operations on the entire corridor, the journey from Delhi to Meerut can be completed in less than an hour.
