Patna: Pappu Yadav has been granted bail in the 31-year-old Gardanibagh case. Although a case was filed against him on Saturday at the Buddha Colony police station in Patna for obstructing government work, he has not been granted bail by the court. During his arrest on Friday, activists and Pappu Yadav protested. Police filed a case under Section 132 of the CrPC.
Arrest on the night of February 6: Pappu Yadav was arrested on the night of February 6. Police arrested him from his residence in the Buddha Colony police station area of Patna in connection with the 31-year-old case. Supporters protested strongly against the police administration, but the police maintained that the MP’s arrest was made following the full legal process. “Police made the arrest in civil dress”: It is reported that Pappu Yadav was returning to Patna from Delhi. At that time, some officers and a police team in civil dress arrived at Pappu Yadav’s residence. The team showed a warrant and announced the arrest. Meanwhile, Pappu Yadav protested, saying he would appear in court on Saturday.
‘He came from Delhi to Patna to surrender’: Pappu Yadav’s mother, Shanti Priya, also spoke of surrender. She said he had come from Delhi to Patna to surrender, but the police forcibly arrested him. He was manhandled and denied food and water, causing his health to deteriorate. The mother has demanded his release from the government.
“He’s an MP, doesn’t he have any respect? He raised his voice on the NEET issue and the government wants to suppress him. I demand the government release my son. He’s ill, and he shouldn’t be harassed.” – Shanti Priya, mother of MP Pappu Yadav
MP remanded to two-day custody: However, the police arrested Pappu Yadav on Friday night. The next day, on Saturday, he was produced before the Patna Civil Court (MP-MLA Court), from where he was sent to Beur Jail for two days’ custody. Before being sent to jail, Pappu Yadav was hospitalized due to ill health.
What is the matter: Actually, this case dates back to 1995. Complainant Vinod Bihari Lal filed a case at the Gardanibagh police station in Patna, alleging that Pappu Yadav fraudulently rented his house and set up a political office in the house rented for personal use.
Complainant’s Allegations: The complainant filed a case alleging fraud, forgery, trespass, criminal conspiracy, and intimidation. Police registered a case under sections 419, 420, 468, 506, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code, which had been ongoing for the past 31 years.
Action for Failure to Appear: This case was being heard in the Patna MP-MLA Court. The court ordered Pappu Yadav to appear several times, but the MP repeatedly failed to appear for hearings. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued. According to Patna Police, this is why the MP was arrested. The court also ordered attachment and confiscation.
“This is a 1995 case. The arrest has been made under this. He failed to appear in court on the scheduled date, so he had to be arrested. Further action will be taken in court.” – Bhanu Pratap Singh, Patna SP City
Arrest as part of a conspiracy: Pappu Yadav and his supporters have described the arrest as a conspiracy. They said that action was taken against him because he was raising the issue of the death of a NEET student in Patna. Pappu Yadav also mentioned the Purnia murder case. He said that the police, who failed to arrest the killer of young businessman Suraj, arrested him with the help of police from five police stations.
‘The 1995 case is fake’: Pappu Yadav also alleged through social media that the 1995 case is fake. The police arrested him on a false charge. The opposition is also protesting this government action.
