Maduranthakam: Political activity has intensified significantly in Tamil Nadu ahead of the assembly elections. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the countdown to the end of DMK rule in Tamil Nadu has begun. PM Modi visited Tamil Nadu on Friday and addressed a rally there.
Ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, a large rally was held today by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Maduranthakam near Chennai. This is considered very important as it is the first NDA rally in view of the assembly elections.
After thanking all the leaders, including Edappadi Palaniswami, Prime Minister Modi began his speech with “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” (Victory to Mother India). Modi said that he has come to Tamil Nadu for the first time in 2026. PM Modi said that he is proud to be in Tamil Nadu this special week, when several auspicious occasions were celebrated, including Pongal and the birthday of MGR, the architect of Tamil Nadu’s development.
He said that people are filled with joy after Pongal. PM Modi said that the contribution of the people of Tamil Nadu to India is immense. He said that today is the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He paid tribute to Subhas Chandra Bose from this sacred land of Tamil Nadu.
DMK will be wiped out from Tamil Nadu, a double-engine government will come, PM Modi said
Addressing the rally, PM Modi said that preparations are underway for a change of government in Tamil Nadu. The people of Tamil Nadu want an NDA government. He said that people have started to feel that Tamil Nadu should get freedom from the DMK government. He said that the countdown to the end of the DMK government has begun and they must be defeated in this election. PM Modi said that with the cooperation of the leaders present on this stage, we will definitely change the government in the upcoming elections. He said that the downfall of the DMK has begun today.
Even a child knows about the corruption of the DMK
Addressing the rally, PM Modi launched a strong attack on the MK Stalin government. He said that even a small child knows that there is rampant corruption in the DMK government. He said that the Stalin government is working as a source of corruption. He said that if the DMK government continues in Tamil Nadu, people will not be able to live in peace. He called for the removal of the DMK from politics.
PM Modi said that to rise in the ranks of the DMK, one doesn’t need administrative competence, but rather flattery of the party leadership, and that’s how people advance. He said that this is all that happens in the DMK. PM Modi said that it is his responsibility to free the people from the clutches of the DMK.
Addressing the rally, PM Modi said that the DMK government came to power by making false promises. This government has failed to fulfill its promises. He accused the DMK government of deceiving the people.
PM Modi said that the DMK government is running on the principles of corruption, mafia, and crime. He said that there is no democracy under DMK rule. The government is being run solely to benefit one family. Targeting the ruling DMK, PM Modi said that they don’t even know what democratic accountability means. They can never give good governance to the people. Tamil Nadu’s development under BJP rule
PM Modi said, “During the previous Congress government, when the DMK was a part of it… Tamil Nadu did not receive much funding. But, in these 11 years, we have given ₹3 lakh crore to Tamil Nadu.” PM Modi said that the central government has implemented projects worth ₹11 lakh crore. PM Modi said that the central government has given three times more funds to Tamil Nadu compared to the Congress government.
PM Modi said that unlike the neglect of Tamil Nadu during the Congress-DMK rule, we have not neglected Tamil Nadu under the BJP government. Under the BJP government, 80 railway stations in Tamil Nadu have been renovated. We have given several trains to Tamil Nadu, including the Vande Bharat Express.
PM Modi said that the biggest strength of Tamil Nadu is its farmers. Therefore, the BJP government has launched several schemes for farmers. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, ₹4 lakh crore has been given. He said that the BJP government is a government of farmers, and it will continue to work for their betterment. He said that farmers are the wealth of the nation, and the BJP government will never abandon them.
Tamil Nadu a hub of narcotics
He said that Tamil Nadu has become a hub of narcotics. Drug trafficking is rampant everywhere. He said that the youth of Tamil Nadu have fallen into the clutches of drug mafias. Because of this, the crime rate in Tamil Nadu has increased.
PM Modi said that the youth of Tamil Nadu are ruining their lives by using drugs. He said that the DMK government has links with these drug cartels. The Stalin government has handed over the students and youth to the drug mafia… they must be saved. PM Modi said that after the change of government in the upcoming elections, Tamil Nadu will definitely become a drug-free state.
He said that during the previous Jayalalithaa government, drug trafficking was under control, and the administration was very good. Today, law and order have collapsed. PM Modi said that Tamil Nadu needs a double-engine government for its development. To improve women’s safety in Tamil Nadu, control drug trafficking, and maintain law and order, this DMK government must be removed.
DMK’s Vote Bank Politics
PM Modi said that in Tamil Nadu, even lighting a lamp for Lord Murugan has become a subject of debate. He said the DMK has made vote bank politics a habit. The DMK is working not only against Tamil Nadu but also against God. He said that similarly, the DMK and Congress parties were the main reason behind the ban on Jallikattu.
He said that the BJP government broke that ban by enacting a law and revived the Jallikattu tradition of the Tamil people. He said, “We will soon liberate Tamil Nadu from the DMK government.” All the leaders of the alliance parties, including AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami, PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss, and AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran, participated in this rally.
