New Delhi: Passengers traveling on Northern Railway and North Western Railway in the coming days may face difficulties. This is due to large-scale railway infrastructure upgrades that will affect train operations. With work underway on the automatic block signaling system, the railways will cancel or divert over 250 train trips on routes in these regions.
Passengers who have already booked confirmed tickets may now have to reconsider their travel plans. Those planning trips are advised to check the latest train schedules before leaving home.
From January 27 to February 16, train trips will be cancelled, partially cancelled, diverted, and rescheduled due to the installation of the automatic block signaling system.
Expressing his concern over the disruption to hundreds of train trips, Rishi Kumar, a passenger from Delhi, told ETV Bharat, “While infrastructure upgrades are welcome, the large number of train cancellations is disappointing. It’s good that modern development work is being done for train passengers, but on the other hand, I am very angry that the railways will cancel or divert such a large number of train trips in these areas.”
He added, “The authorities should create a proper contingency plan so that passengers do not face any inconvenience. Passengers, especially those from the lower middle class and poor sections of society who cannot afford air travel, should not suffer due to these difficulties.”
Another passenger, Srikanth Sharma, praised the railway’s move to install the automatic signaling block system, saying it could significantly improve passenger safety. Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sharma said, “Such infrastructure updates will benefit both the railways and the passengers, but the authorities need to plan carefully. The construction work should be carried out during months when passenger traffic is lowest to avoid unnecessary inconvenience to passengers.” The Railways will be undertaking automatic block signaling work as part of the doubling project between Dobh Bhali, Lahli, and Kalanaur Kalan stations on the Bhiwani-Rohtak section of the Bikaner Division. This work will affect rail traffic.
Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, said, “Due to technical work, some train services running on the North Western Railway will be affected.”
According to Northern Railway, due to the commencement of patch doubling work with the automatic block signaling system in the Bikaner Division, some trains will be diverted for a certain period.
