Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited the Martyrs’ Memorial area in West Boragaon, Guwahati, where he paid tribute to the martyrs of the Assam Movement. PM Modi will interact with 25 meritorious students from Assam as part of the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ program in Guwahati. This interaction will take place on a cruise on the Brahmaputra River. This will be a unique setting for the Prime Minister’s interaction with students ahead of their examinations.
Later, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a fertilizer plant with a capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tonnes in Namrup, Dibrugarh district. The project aims to strengthen fertilizer production in the region and support agricultural development. On Saturday, PM Modi inaugurated the new terminal building of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. The Prime Minister also unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi at the entrance of the new terminal complex and paid tribute to the iconic leader and first Chief Minister of Assam. Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi said that Assam and the entire Northeast are emerging as a new gateway for the development of India.
He described the occasion as a celebration of the development and progress of Assam and the Northeast region, and said that the transformation underway reflects the government’s consistent focus on infrastructure and connectivity. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, PM Modi said that Saturday was a festival of development and progress for Assam and the Northeast. He emphasized that when the light of development reaches the people, every aspect of life begins to touch new heights.
The Prime Minister further said that his deep connection with the land of Assam, the love and affection of its people, and especially the warmth of the mothers and sisters of Assam and the Northeast, constantly inspires him and strengthens the collective resolve to develop the region. He emphasized that today, once again, a new chapter is being added to the development of Assam. Prime Minister Modi said, “Modern airport facilities and advanced connectivity infrastructure serve as gateways to new possibilities and opportunities for any state. They also stand as pillars of growing trust and confidence among the people.” He added that when people see magnificent highways and airports being built in Assam, they themselves believe that true justice for Assam has finally begun.
