New Delhi: Delhi’s Patiala House Court extended the NIA custody of four accused in the Red Fort blast case for seven days. Their NIA custody was set to expire on Saturday, after which they were produced in court. On November 20, the court had remanded all four to NIA custody until today.
The accused whose NIA custody was extended by the court include Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama, Dr. Adil Ahmed Rathar of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow, and Mufti Irfan Wagay of Jammu and Kashmir. Previously, on November 27, the court had extended the NIA custody of Jaseer Bilal Wani alias Danish, an accused in the case and an associate of suicide bomber Dr. Umar Nabi, for seven days.
According to the NIA, Danish made technical modifications to the drone and attempted to prepare a rocket before the car bomb detonation. According to the NIA, Danish, along with Umar Un Nabi, played a key role in executing the entire conspiracy.
According to the NIA, Danish, a political science graduate, was brainwashed by Umar to become a suicide bomber. He agreed to meet the Doctor Module at a mosque in Kulgam in October 2024, from where he was taken to live at Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana. Danish was previously detained by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and, during interrogation, revealed that other members of the module wanted him to become an over-ground worker (OGW) for the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed, while Umar had been brainwashing him for several months to become a suicide bomber.
According to the NIA, Umar’s attempt failed in April this year when Danish refused, citing his poor financial situation and the Islam’s view that suicide is wrong. Earlier, the court had remanded Amir Rashid Ali, the accused arrested in the case, to ten days of NIA custody. Aamir Rashid Ali was arrested by the NIA on November 16th.
It should be noted that Aamir’s arrest was the first by the NIA in connection with the Red Fort blast case. Aamir Rashid Ali is accused of helping the main accused, Umar, acquire a car. It is worth noting that an i10 car, registered in Aamir Rashid Ali’s name, exploded near the Red Fort on November 10th. This car was in the name of Aamir Rashid Ali. This blast killed 15 people and injured 32.
